STRUCTURE AND MATERIAL o o o Structural drawing consists of the preparation of design and construction drawings for buildings, bridges, domes, tanks, towers, and other civil structures. Most of our structures also have many interconnecting parts such as beams, girders and columns, that forms a structure. The materials most commonly used in construction are wood, glass, structural steel, aluminum, concrete (plain, reinforced, and pre-stressed), structural clay products, and stone masonry (plain and reinforced). Design drawings show the overall dimensions of the structure, such as the location of columns, beams, angles, and other structural shapes, and list the sizes of these members. Detail in the form of typical cross sections, special connections required, and various notes are also included. Typical Steel Floor Design Plan

Structural Steel Shapes o o o Aluminum and magnesium shapes are also available but here only steel shapes. Structural steel is available in many standard shapes Available shapes are (made by rolling mills) Square, Flat, Round, Plate Angle, Channel, Isection, T-section, Most CAD programs have structural shapes symbol libraries available
