Structural cabling Designing and implementation of computer network
Structural cabling
Designing and implementation of computer network • Pogled Telecommunications d. o. o is engaged in designing and implementation of computer networks • The process is based on the requests and project task (facility structure, number of operation units, expansions expected in the period of several years) • A long year experience mostly refers to 5 e (Cat 5 e) standard • At the very end of works, necessary tests are done in order to check whether all the tasks have been done successfully
Project completing-general access to solution • In the process of project development, drafts and calculations for passive and active computer networks are made • If the campus structure is such, the number of inter distribution frames (IDFs) has to be defined • By careful analysis of the facility structure, the best solution is chosen (e. g. the space above the lowered ceilings can be used for cable hooking) • The last step is to choose a type of transmission medium
Transmission medium types 1 • Criteria: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. • Length Bandwidth (expansion is expected) Resistance to interference (interbuilding) Price Simplicity of implementation and maintenance Choice is narrowed to UTP Cat 5 e and 6, Multi and Single Mode optical cables
Transmission medium Type 2 • One of the tasks is premises marking, wall jacks and fields on patch panels • This access facilitates the process of designing and further maintenance • In accordance with the chosen solution, calculations for passive computer network (racks , connection modules, patch panels, total number of jacks) and table display of total quantuty of the same (so called Cut Sheet) are done
Layer 2 i Layer 3 - Design 1 • LAN infrastructure is mainly based on LAN Switches • Switches are installed in this way: – POPs – access level – 100 Base. TX UTP cables – IDFs – distributive level – 1000 Base. TX STP cables, POP-IDF connection – MDF core level 1000 Base. LX, optical IDF-MDF connections – On basis of port density a corresponding layer 2 solution has to be chosen
Layer 2 and Layer 3 - Design 2 • After successful implementation of layer 2 solution, the equipment for layer 3 is chosen • Also, if a project request is such, it is necessary to define layer 3 addresses for the end user stations • Thereby, the way of out-routing should be taken into consideration (depending on routing protocol, it is necessary to choose a hierarchical mode of addressing which will enable summarization of addresses)
Implementation process • After successful project design, the process of implementation is being done • Pogled Telecommunications d. o. o. employs the expert staff capable to successfully accomplish such a complex task • At the end, by means of corresponding equipment detailed tests are done so as to check the quality of works done
