The Stages of your Body’s Response to Stress Resistance Stage: • Body adapts to the presence of the stressor • May think you’re no longer stressed • Become tired, irritable, less able to handle added stress
The Stages of your Body’s Response to Stress Exhaustion Stage: • Physical and emotional resources are depleted • Occurs if stressor persists for weeks, months, or years • May be experienced with extreme stress beyond a person’s control
