FOOT FRACTURES/STRESS FRACTURES I chose foot fractures and stress fractures because as a former athlete and basketball player, this is an issues I had to deal with personally, along with a continuing case of plantar fasciitis. This is a common injury of basketball players and even volleyball players due to the continual hard impact the foot makes on hard surfaces such as basketball courts. I have working knowledge of this injury since I had to deal with it and still deal with its lingering effects.

STRESS FRACTURES AND HOW THEY OCCUR Stress fractures can occur from a rapid increase in activity level or training or from overtraining. Stress fractures in basketball most commonly occur in the foot and lower leg (tibia). Once diagnosed, a period of immobilization and non-weight bearing is recommended. Return to play is permitted once the fracture has completely healed and the athlete is pain free.

TESTING To diagnose a stress fracture, a doctor will give you a physical examination,

TESTING To diagnose a stress fracture, a doctor will give you a physical examination, including X-rays, although they are often unable to detect stress fractures. The doctor may send you for the following: • MRI • nuclear bone scan • other imaging technique to diagnose a fracture.

TO THIS DAY WHEN I TRY TO LIFE HEAVY OBJECTS I WILL FIND Jayce Chandler THAT I FEEL PAIN IN MY PAST INJURY.
