Primary Cognitive Appraisal How people assess stress is called Primary Cognitive Appraisal determines the intensity and quality of the individual’s emotional response. Positive primary cognitive appraisal: pleasure, joy and relaxation. Negative primary cognitive appraisal: anxiety and fear.
