Performance evaluation · Some centres are consistently outperforming and some are consistently underperforming · Some centre do need capacity building in resource mobilization skills, report writing, etc. B. Feedback provided by the parties about the centres · Needs more consultation and communications with the parties they serve · Needs to have technical expertise, facilities and experience in various relevant areas · Needs to have clear institutional vision and coverage C. ENHANCING TECHNICAL CAPACITY OF THE REGIONAL CENTRES Enhancing technical capacity, why it is an issue? • Need for a wide range of technical expertise in the region • Networking • Cooperation and collaboration • South-south cooperation • UNEA resolution I/5: chemical and waste recognizes the role of the regional centres • mainstreaming and coordinated delivery • Links to post 2015 SDG • 7 out of 17 goals are related to the work of regional centres • Goal 17 on strengthening of the means of implementation (under headings, finance, technology and capacity building, it emphasizes the developed country to meet their ODA/GNI commitment and promote transfer of environmentally sound technologies through existing mechanism • Partnership with international companies/ODA funding • Tapping on the MEA commitment under ODA funding www. brsmeas. org @brsmeas 10/21/2015 6

What the Centres can do? • Publish and share with the Parties and the Secretariat: Newsletters, news clips, video footage, etc. • Establish websites and regularly update the web-contents • Proactively contact parties and regularly follow up, sharing the activities, requesting their views, etc. • Strive for securing/implementing regional projects/activities • Actively participate in the Regional Centres – SGP • Prepare performance improvement and sustaining plan www. brsmeas. org @brsmeas 10/21/2015 11
