Strategic planning will engage internal and external stakeholders over six months to develop a unique positioning for Africare Dec 11 Phase 0 Visioning Workshop 6 weeks Jan - Feb Phase I Confirming Strengths and Gaps • Review strategic planning process • Form Steering Committee • Develop draft opportunities for vetting • Engage broader staff and board on draft opportunities and strategic questions • Articulate strategic questions to address • Conduct external interviews with donors, peers, partners to validate Africare strengths and gaps • Review findings with Steering Committee 4 – 6 weeks Feb – Mar Phase II Opportunity Development • Co-create profiles (Africare offerings, partner roles, measures of success) of 2 -3 strategic opportunities with country and program staff input • Vet opportunities with external stakeholders • Conduct targeted benchmarking of 3 – 5 peers • Review final opportunity profiles with Steering Committee 8 weeks Apr - May 4 – 5 weeks Jun Phase IV Phase III Draft Strategy • Develop draft organizational implications from strategic questions • Develop Africare positioning • Revise opportunity profiles • Develop and iterate draft strategy with Steering Committee Action Planning and Final Strategy • Revise and finalize strategy (positioning, 2 – 3 new opportunities, organizational implications) • Present final strategy to board for approval • Develop timeline and next steps for roll out • Share draft strategy with board • Conduct targeted external vetting © 2014 FSG | 1
