4 PARTS OF PLOT 1. Basic situation - Who are the characters, and what do they want? What is the basic conflict/problem? 2. Complications arise - series of events that make it hard for the character to get what he wants 3. Climax - most emotional or suspenseful moment (turning point at which the conflict is decided one way or another. ) 4. Resolution – end of the story where the loose ends are tied up
