STEVE JOBS Transformational Leadership The 4 Is Idealized
STEVE JOBS Transformational Leadership & The 4 I’s
Idealized Influence ■ Steve Jobs was an amazingly focused man. As he was leading his company, everyone’s eyes were fixed in him, and he had to be someone that lead by example – His consistent drive for perfectionism, his resentment for settling showed his team what the standards were, and they understood when something had to be remade right before they though it was finished.
Inspirational Motivation ■ Jobs inspired personal challenges and growth. He pushed people to do the impossible, and they actually accomplished it because they learned from his focus and determination ■ Jobs says things with confidence and directness that inspires confidence in other people, that they are doing the impossible, and they are changing the world
Intellectual Stimulation ■ “Deciding what not to do is as important as deciding what to do. ” – Steve Jobs ■ Jobs was supporting his followers/employees by narrowing down the scope for them ■ He gave them a more clear objective for the company and encouraged all creativity and innovation within those objectives
Individual Consideration ■ Jobs would pick his top 100 employees and take them on a retreat each year – This made them feel special, noticed. They yearned to have their idea written on his whiteboard at their meetings – When Jobs was meeting with the man who now creates the glass screens for all Apple products, the distributor didn’t believe he could produce them in the time frame Jobs wanted them. All Jobs had to say was “Don’t be afraid. Yes, you can do it. Get your mid around it, you can do it. ”
