Steve Jobs Transformational Leader
Idealized Influence Jobs was a strong role model because he showed such a deep love and passion for Apple. Jobs put in long weeks to make his products perfect. He had an intense personality which caused some to quit and some to grow an admiration for what he was trying to create. Jobs provided a vision and a sense of mission, his team knew exactly what he wanted and where he wanted the company to go. Steve wanted to create an amazing consumer product and wasn’t concerned with profits like other companies.
Idealized Influence
Inspirational Motivation Jobs didn’t accept anything less than perfect and would push back deadlines if the computer or device he was creating wasn’t what he envisioned it to be. Jobs was highly interested and devoted to Apple he wasn’t looking for his own fame and success. Jobs was also very emotional when he gave speeches or he talked about Apple, I think that is what truly inspired people. When you see someone reveal their true emotion I think that’s when it strikes you that what you’re doing is important and you don’t want to let them down. From his biography I also learned Jobs was quite the storyteller.
Intellectual Stimulation Jobs definitely stimulated followers to be creative and innovative. He built a company that is known for being innovative. He inspired and forced his team to think out of the box.
Intellectual Stimulation “Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently— they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things. They push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. ’
Individualized Consideration Although Steve was brash with his feedback and when dealing with his team, I think if they didn’t give up on Steve and were able to get past his prickly personality then he was able to bring them to their highest potential. If you always accept what people give to you then you are not forcing them to think out side of the box and reach their fullest potential and I think Steve did this with his team.
Conclusion Over winter break I read the biography of Steve Jobs and for anyone who has not read it yet I highly recommend it! You will not be able to put the book down and you gain this insight into Apple and Steve Jobs which is just amazing. Steve is definitely a transformational leader and because of that he built a business empire and was one of the most innovative companies in America.
