STEAMFest 2020 -21 Student Log Book Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics
All logbooks and projects will be submitted electronically Prepare your logbook in Word or as a pdf Pages will not be accepted due to the Academy of Science St. Logbook Basics Louis Science Fair accepting only Word for logbooks and Power. Point for projects, or PDF’s for both Word and Power. Point are available for student download from the Kirkwood School District Portal Include the approved Research Plan with your logbook Include the parent-signed Safety Form with your logbook Including the two forms mentioned above, your logbook should not exceed ten pages
Through your Research Plan you will have your question or problem being addressed and the expected outcome Describe in detail the method, procedures, and safety precautions for your data collection and or building your prototype Logbook Contents Identify potential risk and safety precautions to complete the project safely Include trial results if doing an experiment – be detailed Share your thoughts and observations in writing as your research continues Include explanations of what you believe your results mean, how you interpreted them. List information you found in the library, on the internet, or from magazines that relate to your research. Include titles, author, date of publication, and pages you read or gathered information from. Review scoring rubrics to make sure you have all the needed components.
Names and Photos of people should not show their face; put a round sticker or label over the face Consider taking photographs of just a person’s hand performing the work To identify your project, we will use a project number we assign you based on the information you provided in your email submission of the Research Plan
The current Safety Form is mandatory for ALL projects, plus it is worth 10 points on your overall score Safety Forms The safety form should be included in your logbook and will count toward your ten page limit Projects involving human studies require the current Consent Form for Human Studies; provide a copy to the person involved and include one copy in your logbook
