Internship v I have participated in internship program in Slovakia, at the Technical University of Košice between 21. 09. – 21. 10. 2015. v The Technical University of Košice (TUKE) was founded in 1952. Now TUKE has 9 faculties: 9 faculties v Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnology v Mechanical Engineering v Civil Engineering v Manufacturing Technologies v Metallurgy v Electrical Engineering and Informatics v Economics v Arts v Aeronautics 3
UCITT - UCITT University Center for Innovation, Technology Transfer and protection of intellectual property rights The services fully support: v Preparation, development and performance of national and international R&D activities. v Efficient collaboration and technology transfer with social and commercial practice. v Development and establishment of relevant “Spin-off” and “Start up” firms. v Human resource development for management and administration of research and TT. v Marketing in the fields of R&D and Technology Transfer. 4
The TUKE Startup Centre was founded in 2014 as an innovative initiative of The Technical University of Košice (TUKE). Mission v to utilize innovative potential of the region, invest in students and innovative people, v to develop their ideas, abilities and creativity and support them. The activities of TUKE Startup Centre fully cover the areas related to the USP TECHNICOM project, especially: v v v Information and communication technologies Electrical engineering, automation and control systems Mechanical engineering Civil engineering Environmental engineering 5
The TUKE Startup Centre Recently, there are 7 startups belonging to the TUKE Startup Centre: v Crop. Tek. v Gruveo v Blink v Fixer v Vizualizačky. sk v CEELABS v EFEOS 6
The TUKE Startup Centre I’ve seen Smart Hydroponic Systems by Crop. Tek. , which are fully autonomous, highly scalable & cloud-connected hydroponics systems for home, small, medium & enterprise indoor and outdoor growing. Their mission is to deliver persistent global food security and sustainable agriculture worldwide. 7
The TUKE Startup Centre Also I’ve seen a design studio that’s dedicated to the projection civil engineering with the use of modern methods of processing virtual reality. They develop an interactive tool for designing interiors in environment of dynamic visualization. First, user decides from which of existing standard blocks will be constructed his house. Then this tool scans the existing space and converting it to virtual reality, where the user modifies (design) all of interior space and elements. The output of interactive design in virtual reality are realistic rendering of the new design, budget and inventory of designed modifications and elements. 8
The TUKE Startup Centre This project enables sharing events using streaming devices connected to the Internet (Smartphone, Google Glasses, Dron, IPcam or regular video camera). There are used multiple angles that allows system to select the best shot of the monitored object. The resulting best picture of the event is made available to remote viewers via the web interface. 9
The TUKE Startup Centre Intelligent Building There is an Intelligent building inside the Startup Center. It has the automatic centralized control of a building's heating, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting and other systems through a Building Automation System (BAS). The objectives of building automation are improved occupant comfort, efficient operation of building systems, and reduction in energy consumption and operating costs. 10
The TUKE Startup Centre System for fixing cables There is a System for fixing cables, from which are constructed some buildings, in right position inside the Startup Center. It measures all parameters and doesn’t allow this cables to lengthen out. 11
TUKE Laboratories v Network Laboratories v Hall for video-conferences connected to the same hall in Bratislava for making virtual round table 12
I have prepared a presentation about innovations in Moldova. Also I have translated in Russian language information about TUKE Startup Center and UCITT and their activities for their official webpages: v http: //ucitt. tuke. sk/wps/portal/home/en/home v http: //technicom. tuke. sk/wps/portal/technicom/sk/titul na-stranka I have analyzed the following webpages and given some suggestion about their design: v http: //startupcentrum. tuke. sk/wps/portal/startupcentrum/en/our-startups/present-startups v http: //www. tuke. sk/tuke/university v http: //ucitt. tuke. sk/wps/portal/home/en/home v http: //technicom. tuke. sk/wps/portal/technicom/sk/titul na-stranka 13
European Researchers' Night I was at European Researchers' Night at Optima. It was on two floors and there were several section: v v v v technology (robots, games, virtual reality, etc. ), chemistry, biology (insects, plants), minerals, metals, space, medicine. 14
Extrapolacie 2015 at Slovak Technical Museum v Conferences v Exhibition of old computers v Exhibition of innovation technologies (Crop. Tek. , robot for assemble Rubik cube, umbrella with mirrors for gathering energy and heat, etc. ) 15
Conference “Intellectual Capital Method in the Slovak Context” It took place at 13 October 2015 in Hotel Hilton - Double Tree and there were presented the next themes: v Smart Specialisation: HEI as lead institutions for regional development (Armin Mahr, Federal Austrian Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (HEI, S 3 Regional development)) v Regional cooperation in science and economy – a condition for Europe (Erhard Busek, Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe) v Benefits and challenges of using IC method by HEIs in Austria (Roswitha Wiedenhofer, FH Johanneum) Austria v The LEGEND Project (Daniela Olejárová, Centire) The LEGEND Project 16

Summary of the Project v create the country’s first online ads and informational service, fully dedicated to pets. v give breeders a modern way to place ads for the sale of pets. This will help them to find buyers more effectively or to buy purebred pets by themselves. v provide shelters the most modern and popular method for notification of their available animals and effective search for new owners for them. There are very few people in Moldova, who know that here exists shelters. All animals there are contained mainly due to the donations of ordinary citizens. There live dozens of homeless animals, and we need to provide an online platform where people can get to know about them and choose their future pets by the photos and description. This will solve greatly the problem of the large number of homeless animals. 25

Content Management of a Website v Content Management Framework (CMF) – is a system that facilitates the use of reusable components or customized software for managing Web content. It shares aspects of a Web application framework and a content management system (CMS). v Content management system (CMS) — is a computer application that allows publishing, editing and modifying content, organizing, deleting as well as maintenance from a central interface. v There are many commercial CMS. v There are 3 the most popular free open source CMS: Drupal, Word. Press and Joomla. 27
Free Open Source CMS Word. Press Advantages • • • Disadvantages • • Joomla Drupal very easy to • use; requires minimal setup; excellent for • blogging or sharing information in a sequential manner. • friendly for • designers, • developers and administrators; its huge community is awesome for • assisting with creation of websites; rapidly growing & improving itself for the past years. developer friendly; there is a strong community to help distinguish the hundreds of functions and tags available; can be used to create some really powerful websites that can outstrip a majority of other sites created by other CMS. unfriendly for developers; update can bring more bugs than fixes. isn’t so simple for end-users and content managers like Word. Press is; isn’t as powerful as Drupal; there are still many features from the old versions. isn’t very designer and user-friendly; hard for someone with little code knowledge; themes are made by developers, not designers; publishing a Drupal website could cost 28 more time • •
Modern Web Design Trends One-Color Dominance, Big and Bold Typography, Flat Design, Video Backgrounds, Illustrations, Geometry, Scrolling, etc. 29
Top Usability Mistakes in Web Design v No color for links, v Poor typography, v Small clickable areas, v Absence of search function, v Registration required all the way, v Long registration forms, v Wrong usage of images, etc. 30
