State Test Information
Administration Dates ▪ English computer based: Monday, April 1 – Thursday, April 11 ▪ Math computer based: Tuesday, April 30 – Friday, May 10 ▪ Science (grade 4 and 8 only): ▪ Performance test Wednesday, May 22 – Friday, May 31 ▪ Written test Monday, June 3 - Friday, June 7
Standards ▪ The English and Math tests are based on the New York State Standards. ▪ The standards establish clear, consistent guidelines for what every student should know and be able to do in math and English language arts from kindergarten through 12 th grade. ▪ The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high school with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life.
Test components ▪ English Day 1: 4 -5 passages with 24 -35 multiple choice ▪ English Day 2: 3 passages with 6 -7 short response, and 1 extended response ▪ Math Day 1: 25 - 33 multiple choice questions ▪ Math Day 2: 7 - 8 multiple choice questions, 6 -7 short response, 1 extended response ▪ Grades 4 and 8 only: ▪ Science Performance Test: On demand tasks ▪ Science Written Test: Multiple choice and constructed response
