So as your fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings and as one who shares in the glory that will be revealed, I urge the elders among you: Give a shepherd’s care to God’s flock among you, exercising oversight not merely as a duty but willingly under God’s direction, not for shameful profit but eagerly. And do not lord it over those entrusted to you, but be examples to the flock. (I pet. 5: 1 -3)

Why Do We Worship Corporately?

Biblical Worship Involves: Submission Matt. 4: 9 "And he said, 'All these things I will give you if you fall down and worship me. '" Serving Matt. 4: 10 "Then Jesus said to him, 'Away with you Satan!' For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. '" Sacrifice 1 Sam. 1: 3 "This man went up from this city to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. "

Rebuilding the Walls Larry Peete

The righteous cry out and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and save such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous. But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Psalm 34: 17 -19

State of the Church Nehemiah: Nehemiah saw the problems, was distressed, the walls and gates were destroyed all around Israel. Instead of complaining or lading in self-pity and grief, he took action.

Nehemiah’s Action st 1 Course of 1. Nehemiah prayed and fasted before God. Nehemiah 1: 4 -5 so it was when I hear these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven. Neh. 1: 8 -9 Remember, I pray, the words You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations; but if you return to Me, and keep my commandments and do them, though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heavens, yet I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.

Nehemiah’s 2 nd Course of Action 2. Nehemiah took charge, he saw what was needed and put together a plan. Neh. 2: 12, 13 Then I rose in the night, I and a few men with me; I told no one what my God had put in my heart to do in Jerusalem; nor were there any animals with me, except the one which I rode. And I went out by night through the Valley Gate to the Serpent Well and the Refuse gat, and viewed the walls of Jerusalem which were broken down and its gates which were burn with fire.

Nehemiah’s 3 rd Course of Action 3. He called the high priest and priests, the leaders and all the people together and shared his plans so everyone was behind him. Neh. 3: 1 The first to rise, and build the first gate were the high priest and his brethren priests building the Sheep Gate. (As leaders we must not only lead by words but by action).

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land. 2 Chr 7: 14

But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them and deliver them; He shall deliver them from the wicked, And save them, because they trust in Him. Psalm 37: 39 -40

Isaiah 41: 10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you! Don’t be frightened, for I am your God! I strengthen you – yes, I help you – yes, I uphold you with my saving right hand!
