CCBHC Goals Improve overall health by providing improved community-based mental health and substance use disorder treatment Emphasis on care for individuals with Serious Mental Illness, Serious Emotional Disturbance, and chronic Substance Use Disorders Effective coordination of care through integration of behavioral health care with physical health care to serve the “whole person” Utilize consistent evidence-based practices 3
What is a CCBHC? As defined under the Excellence in Mental Health Act: Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics or CCBHC’s are designed to provide a comprehensive range of mental health and substance use disorder services, particularly to vulnerable individuals with the most complex needs 4
Minimum CCBHC Standards Staffing Availability Care and accessibility of services coordination Scope Quality of services and other reporting Organizational authority, governance and accreditation 5
CCBHC Provides CCBHC Services Crisis mental health services including 24 -hour mobile crisis teams, emergency crisis intervention and crisis stabilization √ Screening, assessment and diagnosis including risk management √ Patient-centered treatment planning √ Outpatient mental health and substance use services √ CCBHC and/or DCO Primary care screening and monitoring √ Targeted case-management √ Psychiatric rehabilitation services √ Peer support, counseling services, and family support services √ Services for members of the armed services and veterans √ Connections with other providers and systems (criminal justice, foster care, child welfare, education, primary care, hospitals, etc. ) 6 √

CCBHC’s support BHPAC’s top priorities In 2015, the State of Nevada’s Behavioral Health Planning and Advisory Council identified five of the top behavioral health priorities to be addressed in 2016 -2018: Increase the number and quality of behavioral health professionals in Nevada. Improve screening, assessment, and referral services for at-risk populations. Support earlier access to prevention and early intervention services. Increase community-based services across the system of care Provide community-based intervention and support to address trauma and prevent incarceration. 8
