Entry Level: Exploring Narratives Show which part of the story are the different aspects of narratives. It was a dark and cold night. There was a little light leaking through the curtains from the street lights outside. It made parts of the bedroom glow orange. But in the dark shadows by the door, Jim was sure he could see a black figure. He rubbed his eyes and stared into the blackness. Then he shut them as tight as he could and saw bright lights swim in front of his eyes. He would never sleep. And then he heard a noise … There was a slow creak on the floorboards outside Jim’s bedroom door. His eyes shot to the door. He watched in terror as the handle turned. Downstairs Jim’s mum was busy in the kitchen. She did not know that her son was still awake, stiff with fear, in the darkness upstairs. She was quietly singing to herself while she peeled potatoes for dinner the next day. Suddenly, a scream cut through the house. It came from upstairs. It came from Jim’s room. It came from Jim. She flew up the stairs. With a shaking hand she opened Jim’s bedroom door, not sure of what she would find. “Look, mum, he’s been!” Jim laughed as he pulled toys from his Christmas stocking.
