Howard Schultz • He is the best known as the chairman and CEO of Starbucks and a former owner of the Seattle Super Sonics. 3

Advancement • On October 27, 1987, the first Chicago store opened. • In 1996, the first starbucks was opened in Tokyo The First Tokyo Store • The store advanced to U. K in 1998. 6
In the World • over 16, 000 Starbucks stores are in the world, including 11, 000 in America, more than 1, 000 in Canada, and over 800 in Japan. In 2009, the company have a plan to increase 900 stores outside of the United States. 7

Problem • On July 1, 2008, the company announced to close 600 underperforming stores. • On July 29, 2008, Starbucks also cut almost 1, 000 non-retail jobs. • On January 28, 2009, Starbucks announced closing of an additional 300 underperforming stores and the elimination of 7, 000 positions. 10
In Conclusion • I think the starbucks is still considered as the largest coffeehouse in the world. 11
