IAAS PHILOSOPHY • Science is a window into the universe. How can we as scientists keep this beautiful treasure to ourselves? The joy of research and investigation becomes even more exciting when shared with others. Then, we all can experience the joy of the wonders and mysteries before us.

A BRIEF HISTORY Founded in 1978 by Prof. Jim Moravec IAAS Students • Contributed to and assisted in the development of astronomy curricula for kindergarten students through adults • Developed education programs for various institutions • Sought-after as international speakers on the topics of youth astronomy research and scientific programs • Actively recruited by post-secondary institutions for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs • Hired by US and international government agencies, as well as space science-related corporations worldwide

More than 1, 000 students have completed the program

RECRUITING Research Staff • High school students entering the 9 th through 12 th grade interested in the space and related sciences. • College level students can participate and become mentors • Recruitment of prospective 9 th grade students begins in spring of their 8 th grade year. • Notification of selection in May.
