Utah Model Alignment Vertical Alignment: Encompasses elementary schools feeding into middle schools, which then feed into one high school. Horizontal Alignment: Connects the relationship between standards and student outcomes. Alignment helps ensure collaborative efforts are focused toward positive student outcomes. May include all school levels or a particular grade in all schools within a district Example: all elementary schools Example: all eight grade students
