Propagation and Other Challenges - All 10 Days the “K” Index was 4 or higher - Four of 10 Operating Days “K” Index was 5 or higher - “A” Index peaked at 77 on Oct 7 th - Geomagnetic Storm Levels G 2 and G 3 during the project - High Atmospheric Noise Levels - Over the Horizon Radar (stronger than many callers)
Propagation Challenge Average planetary A index was way up, from 5. 1 to 24. 3. The planetary A index reading of 77 on Wednesday Oct 7 was a big factor in the high average. That is a huge number, indicating a strong geomagnetic storm. K = 0 Inactive K = 1 Very quiet K = 2 Quiet K = 3 Unsettled K = 4 Active K = 5 Minor storm K = 6 Major storm K = 7 Severe storm K = 8 Very severe storm K = 9 Extremely severe storm

Logs - Uploaded daily (except for one day) by Inmarsat Prepaid BGAN Service (Broadband Global Area Network) - 7 Networked N 1 MM+ Lenovo Laptops - Log Replicated on Each Laptop within a second or two (each op could see everything) - Contrary to the Usual Internet Rumors: - Uploaded by Day, not by Band - No lost logs or Qs - Significant problem was PSK 31 issue, Cause ? (log repaired while on the island)
