Step 1: The hero is introduced in his ordinary world *Most stories take the reader to a special world. *Before creating the special world, the hero must be viewed in his ordinary world. Star Wars The hero, Luke Skywalker is bored to death as a farm boy before tackling the universe. Aladdin in the streets. Jasmine in the palace.
Step 2 The Call To Adventure *The hero is presented with a problem, challenge, or adventure. Star Wars Princess Leia’s holographic message to Obi-Wan Kenobi who then asks Luke to join the quest. Aladdin meets the old man in jail (Jafar in disguise)
Step 3: Refusal of the Call *The hero rejects the opportunity for the quest, often because fear. Star Wars Aladdin Luke returns and finds his uncle's Aladdin is a bit unsure, even after farmhouse burned. Luke is no accepting the old man’s offer. He longer reluctant to go on his quest. becomes resigned with the cave closes on him
Step 4: Meeting with the Mentor *By this time many stories will have introduced a Merlin-like character who is the hero's mentor. This step can happen at any time before the hero enters the special world – may not be in order. Star Wars Luke meets Obi-Wan who gives Luke his father’s light saber. Aladdin Genie helps Aladdin get out of the cave and gives wishes and advice.
Step 5: Crossing the Threshold *The hero fully enters the special world of the story for the first time. *This is the moment the story takes off and the adventure gets going. Star Wars Aladdin Luke leaves his home with Obi. Wan in order to save the princess. Aladdin finally accepts that he gets the wishes, and with the help of Genie, sets out to become a prince.
Step 6: the Hero encounters tests, allies, and enemies *The hero is forced to make allies and enemies in the special world, and to pass certain tests and challenges that are part of his/her training. Star Wars The Cantina is the setting for the forging of an important alliance with Han Solo and the start of an enmity with Jaba the Hut Aladdin becomes the Genie’s friend, gets an elephant, makes an enemy of Jafar, and learns how to act like a prince. (His special world)
Step 7: The Hero Reaches the Inner Most Cave *The hero comes at last to a dangerous place, often deep underground, where the object of the quest is hidden. Star Wars Aladdin Luke and company are sucked into The object of his quest is Jasmine. the death star where they will He goes metaphorically into the rescue Princess Leia inmost cave when he goes to the palace to gain her love. Dangerous because of Jafar, and because he may be unmasked as really being a street rat.
Step 8: The Hero Endures The Supreme Ordeal *This is the moment at which the hero touches bottom and faces the possibility of death, brought to the brink in a fight with a mythical beast. *This is the moment in which the hero appears to die and be born again. Star Wars Aladdin Luke and company are trapped in the giant trash compactor. Luke is pulled under water by a monster that lives in the sewage. The audience wonders if he is dead. Aladdin loses control of the lamp and Jafar takes over, trying to humiliate Jasmine and her father, and get rid of Aladdin. We wonder if Aladdin can still survive without the Genie
Step 9: The Hero Seizes the Sword *Having survived death, the hero now takes possession of the treasure he's come seeking. *The hero may settle a conflict with his father or his nemesis. He might also reconcile with a woman. Star Wars Aladdin Luke and company fight their way through the Death Star with the plans for destroying the Death Star. Aladdin defeats Jafar with wits instead of strength, and rescues Jasmine (his treasure. He finds out she still loves him, even though he is a street rat. They kiss, and Genie adds comedy.
Step 10: The Road Back *The hero may still be in danger. He may be pursued by the vengeful forces from whom he has stolen the treasure. Star Wars Luke boards his ship but not before witnessing the death of his mentor at the hands of Darth Vader. Juke’s ship barely escapes the attack from the Death Star. Aladdin No chase scene in Aladdin. Jasmine, father, and castle transported back to places.
Step 11: Resurrection *The hero emerges from the special world, transformed by his experiences. *There is often a replay of the mock death-andrebirth of Stage 8, as the hero faces death and survives. Aladdin Star Wars Luke finally learns to trust the force and destroys the Death Star but he loses a little of himself when the happens. Aladdin must face his shadow (inability to be himself), decide to wish the Genie free and remain a street rat, or wish to be a prince and marry Jasmine. Overcomes shadow (his insecurities), choose the right thing by setting the Genie free.
Step 12: Return with the Elixir *The hero returns to the ordinary world, but the adventure would be meaningless unless he brought back the elixir, treasure, or some lesson. *If he does not come back with a treasure, he is doomed to repeat the adventure until he does. Aladdin Star Wars Luke and company are rewarded for their bravery. Luke has the force and his newly found selfknowledge. Aladdin returns to being himself, but now has the love of Jasmine, and is now happy with who he really is. And because he has proven to be worthy, the Sultan changes the law and Aladdin can marry Jasmine.
