St Pauls Church Wibsey SUNDAY NIGHT PRAYER WELCOME
St Paul’s Church, Wibsey SUNDAY NIGHT PRAYER WELCOME TO YOUR CHURCH Together: Growing, Caring, Sharing in God’s Love
WELCOME TO OUR SUNDAY NIGHT PRAYER. This Power. Point presentation will give you all you need to celebrate at home this service. For the Song/Hymn, just click on the titles, and the weblink will open it directly in your computer. The songs are songs of Taizé, to introduce to the quiet of the night. You have the choice between a song in English, a song in Latin, or just an instrumental track. The videos with the songs in English are with or without the lyrics of the song; most videos with the song in Latin are without the lyrics; the videos with just the instrumental track gives the unsung lyrics.
The Psalm can be read by two people or two groups of people if you want. It is a psalm that was said by people during their pilgrimage to Jerusalem, as we prepare ourselves to our going to the heavenly Jerusalem. You may start by lighting a candle.
(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
Our help is in the name of the Lord, All who made heaven and earth.
SONG OF TAIZE In English (with lyrics): ‘In the Lord, I’ll be ever thankful’ In English (without lyrics): ‘Nothing can ever come between us’ In Latin: ‘Laudate Dominum’ Just instrumental: ‘Magnificat’
(Time of quiet to reflect on the past day)
Save us, O Lord, while waking: All and guard us while sleeping.
That awake, we may watch with Christ: All and asleep may rest in peace.
From eternity to eternity, you are Lord: All and we proclaim the coming of your reign.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
THE WORD OF GOD A light on our path
PSALM Psalm 126 (Good News Version)
When the LORD brought us back to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! 2 How we laughed, how we sang for joy! Then the other nations said about us, “The LORD did great things for them. ”
3 Indeed he did great things for us; how happy we were! 4 LORD, make us prosperous again, just as the rain brings water back to dry riverbeds.
5 Let those who wept as they planted their crops, gather the harvest with joy!
6 Those who wept as they went out carrying the seed will come back singing for joy, as they bring in the harvest.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
God of consolation, look on us, pilgrims in a strange land; preserve us from slander and deceit, show us the truth and give to our souls the peace of Christ. Amen.
READING
