What is LINKS? LINKS is the section of St John Ambulance dedicated to university students. LINKS groups are particularly popular and offer a great opportunity to get involved As a university student in St John Ambulance, there are many opportunities available to members such as first aid, socialising, training and volunteering
Society Objectives 2017/18 - To encourage as many people as possible to learn first aid - To continue to offer essential courses for members to enable them to go out and volunteer - Encourage members to go out on Operational Events - Further develop strong social links with members

Joining Process 2017/18 Society QUB Society Division LINKS St John Division • Whilst we encourage all members to volunteer with us, we also want those who are unsure to still come to our weekly meetings and social events • If spaces are limited, priority will be given to those who want to volunteer
Joining Process 2017/18 • Forms: o o Membership Application Form (SJF 3 A) Health Declaration Form Equal Opportunities Form 2 x signed Passport Photos • Fees o QUB Student’s Union Joining Fee (£ 5) (non QUB students £ 10) o SJA NI Administration Fee (£ 5) • Access NI • Uniform following TFA completion
Access NI All members are required to complete an enhanced Access NI check. These are issued directly from DHQ and must be returned before you can commence any training. From return of the forms the process time is approximately 2 -3 weeks. ACCESS NI FORMS SHOULD BE RETURNED DIRECTLY WITHOUT DELAY. UNTIL YOUR ACCESS NI CLEARANCE HAS BEEN RECEIVED BY SJA (NI) LINKS COORDINATOR YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO COMPLETE ANY OFFICIAL COURSES

Meetings Monday Evenings Club Rooms 3 and 4 (location can vary but you will be emailed of any change!) 7: 30 pm – 8: 30/9: 00 pm Additional Training We link up with other St John Ambulance divisions for additional training and these courses may occur at weekends
Training Trainee First Aider This level allows you to go out on duty, following successful completion of the course, as an observer. All new members will complete this course hopefully in semester one. First Aider This is our standard level of training for new members and it is hoped that all members will reach this level within one year of joining. This builds on the training you received during your trainee first aid course. On completion you can go out on duty and treat casualties
Duties Wide variety of events covered including • Belfast City Marathon • Autumn fair in Botanic • Belfast Pride • City Council Contract Events • Ulster Rugby • Other Sporting Events The amount of duties vary through the year, and this year we want to join up with other divisions to go out with them too We encourage members to volunteer as much as they are able

Socials Our big social activities throughout the year include: - Start of year social Christmas dinner Team building weekend End of year dinner - The more the better!!
Start of year social 2017 We are Vertigo Monday 16 th October 2017 - Meet SU at 7: 15, leaving SU by 7: 30 - 8 pm bounce session - £ 5 to attend by next week - £ 2 for socks once there - First come first served if spaces limited
What Next? Monday 9 th October Meet in Clubrooms 3&4 at 7: 30 pm Return SJF 3 A/41, Health Declaration and SDU 1 Bring joining fee and deposit for social Email St-John@qub. ac. uk
