St. Coman’s Wood Primary School Roscommon RN 016 STEP 3 -Engineering Engineers Week was a busy week in St. Comán’s Wood this February 2018! Ms. Joan Mannion (6 th Class Teacher) organised 6 different engineering activities for our 4 th-6 th Classes (9 in total) along with a rota for the duration of the week. The teachers divided their classes into groups which alternated between all activities. Mannion provided the equipment & instructions for each activity and some very helpful pupils from her class to oversee the activities in each room. The activities are as follows: K’nex Block Construction Magsnaps/Magshapes Polydron Frameworks (2 D & 3 D Shapes) Automata Magnetix

Visitors to St. Comán’s Wood during Engineers Week • Engineers Week February 2018: Niall Geraghty (Engineer & Parent) working in Roscommon County Council Water Services spoke to the senior pupils about Roscommon’s local water schemes, maintaining pipes using a Power. Point presentation. Other parents were scheduled to come in to discuss how they use engineering in their work but unfortunately due to the bad snow that week the school was closed and some talks were cancelled.
