Bach, Suite for Lute in E minor, Bouree St. Augustine is an ex Spanish colony in north Florida on the east coast, best known as the oldest European settlement in the United States. For a short period it went under British control but after the USA war for independence it went back under control of Spain in recognition of its efforts during the war on behalf of the states. It became a U. S. possession only in 1822 and a part of the state of Florida in 1845. St Augustine is today a small jewel of a city full of romantic ambiance and old world charm. It is best known for its remarkable historic streets, Spanish style architecture, and panoramic bay.
The Ponce de León Hotel, today Flagler College, was built in 1887 by Henry M. Flagler - Rockefeller's partner in the Oil business. Designed in the Spanish Renaissance style, it served as an exclusive winter resort for the wealthiest millionaires of the Northeast. Thanks to Flagler's friend Thomas Edison, it was one of the first buildings on earth wired for electricity.
Villa Zorayda (also known as the Zorayda Castle) was inspired by the 12 th-century Moorish Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain. It was built by the eccentric Boston millionaire Franklin W. Smith in 1883 as his private home.
