How “Do What’s Right” Works • Individual submits a tip • Davenport Police receives tip in office that is staffed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. • Supervisor reviews tip, assesses threat and submits to next level supervisor. • Shift Commander completes assessment. Makes decision to have emergency response, call in detectives to investigate further or assign for follow up. • Level of threat determines if a phone call, text message and/or email is disseminated to an identified group of employees. • Threat assessment may involve communication and partnerships with mental health professionals.

St. Ambrose University Initiative Updates Since February, 2016
Bee the Difference Day • Thank you to those of you who participated • 150 homes in the University area were served • 650 students participated, representing all facets of the University community • Additionally an alumni group of 18 served • Post event cookout was attended by 600 folks • Originated in 2006 by SGA
Property Acquisition Location Intended Use • No New Properties Acquired since February • Houses on properties are being removed: ▫ 535, 539, 609, and 629/629 ½ W. Locust Street ▫ 610/612 W. 17 th Street • Use of open space has been yet to be determined • Housing, parking, activities space, or green space is being discussed • If we redevelop the area, properties are outside land use map and thus will need City approval
St. Vincent’s Center Development • Location on Central Park Avenue, south of fields • Varsity Athletics Offices and Equipment Facility ▫ ▫ ▫ Footprint 6372 SF Offices for football, lacrosse, and softball coaches Lockers, restrooms, and showers for the football and lacrosse teams Training area and laundry space Basement will be used to store football and lacrosse equipment and equipment for the entire complex ▫ Anticipated completion date is by June 2018 ▫ Administrative approval by the City of Davenport staff.
Noteworthy Happenings • Higher Learning Commission Visit ▫ ▫ ▫ Determines institutional accreditation 2007 visit yielded a 10 -year accreditation Team of 5 visited October 16 -18 Preliminary findings were very positive Final decision communicated in Spring 2018 • Institute for Person-Centered Care ▫ $1 million gift from ‘ 67 alum Thomas Higgins ▫ Incubator for leadership, practice, and research ▫ Further commitment to social justice, health equity, and service
Noteworthy Happenings cont. • Jim’s Place now Virtual Demonstration and Training Site for Home Independence (VDTS) ▫ Received $185, 234 from U. S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs • Athletics Awarded NAIA’s Champions of Character Five Star Institution ▫ Received a perfect score of 100, one of only 14 of 183 institutions participating ▫ Categories included character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion ▫ 2016 -2017 recorded 20 NAIA Scholarship Teams
Residential Capacity/Occupancy • Fall 16: ▫ ▫ 1527 contracts 1676 bed capacity 70 % of 2188 FTUG 20 th day Fall 17: 1581 contracts 1693 bed capacity 71 % of 2215 FTUG* 20 th day • Fall 17 contracts released: 0 ▫ FY retention 78. 4% * Full-time Undergraduate student enrollment
Fall Parking Availability • Managing lot usage to accommodate demand: ▫ Zone 1 – 625# spaces [R 1. 1] = 651 permits sold ▫ Zone 2 – 552 spaces [R 1. 1] = 619 permits sold ▫ Zone 3* – 98 spaces [R 1. 0] = 39 issued [free] #42 spaces retained for construction clearance *Shuttle runs as requested from Zone 3 § Lot surveys conducted the week of October 9 § Use of public transportation remains high, with over 12, 000 rides annually § Zone 2 use rates are high between 9: 00 a. m. and 1: 00 p. m. thus working to increase near Mc. Carthy
Parking Oversight • Require all students to register vehicles so City can look up vehicles of concern • Communicate with students to use our lots • Monitor on-street parking and encourage student use of University lots [academic program contacts] • Fall concerns on Fillmore, Lillie, and Berg • Addressing issues directly with students • Findings in concern areas include student occupants and occupant approved permission to park • Please contact DOS or Security directly with concerns – photos or license #s are helpful
Wellness and Recreation Center • • Largest capital project in University history. Center was dedicated September 29 th. New addition is 80, 000 square feet Provided new offices, classrooms, workout and recreational space. • Added general locker room space and expanded varsity locker rooms. • Currently available for use by students, faculty, and staff while evaluating use patterns.
