Lord our God, reveal among us the light of your presence, All that we may see your power and glory.
(Time of quiet to be in presence of the Lord)
O God, make speed to save us, All O Lord, make haste to help us.
SONG ‘We belong to the day’
Blessed are you, Sovereign Lord, God of Abraham and Sarah and all the patriarchs of old; All to you be praise and glory for ever.
You are our Father too, and your love is revealed to us in Jesus Christ, All your Son and the son of David.
Help us in preparing to celebrate his birth, All to make our hearts ready for your Holy Spirit to make his home among us.
Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit: All Blessed be God for ever!
That this evening may be holy, good and peaceful, let us pray with one heart and mind.
All As our evening prayer rises before you, O God, so may your mercy come down upon us, to cleanse our hearts and set us free to sing your praise, now and for ever. Amen.
THE WORD OF GOD The light in our darkness
PSALM Psalm 89 part 2/4 (Good News Version)
18 Our king is like a shield that keeps us safe. He belongs to the LORD. He belongs to the Holy One of Israel.
19 You once spoke to your faithful people in a vision. You said, “I have given strength to a soldier. I have raised up a young man from among the people. 20 I have found my servant David.
I have poured my sacred oil on his head. 21 My powerful hand will keep him going. My mighty arm will give him strength.
22 No enemy will have the victory over him. No evil person will treat him badly. 23 I will crush the king’s enemies. I will completely destroy them.
24 I will love him and be faithful to him. Because of me his power will increase. 25 I will give him a great kingdom. It will reach from the Mediterranean Sea to the Euphrates River.
26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father. You are my God. You are my Rock and Saviour. ’ 27 I will also make him my oldest son.
Among all the kings of the earth, he will be the most important one. 28 I will continue to love him forever. I will never break my covenant with him.
29 I will make his family line continue forever. His kingdom will last as long as the heavens.
Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen. Or: Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and shall be for ever. Amen.
As we sing of your love, O Lord, anoint us with the Spirit’s seal, that we may praise your faithfulness and proclaim your truth from age to age; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Abram had a vision. The LORD said to him, “Abram, do not be afraid. I am like a shield to you. I am your very great reward. ” (Genesis 15. 1; NIr. V)
My soul is waiting for you, O Lord, All in your Word is my hope. There is forgiveness with you, All so that you shall be respected. Glory to the Father, by the Son, in the Holy Spirit: All My soul is waiting for you, O Lord, in your Word is my hope.
PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD -For the people met during the day and their needs -For the Church and her mission
That God may bind up the brokenhearted and restore the sick.
(We offer ourselves to the Lord)
All O Lord our God, make us watchful and keep us faithful as we await the coming of your Son our Lord; that, when he shall appear, he may not find us sleeping in sin but active in his service and joyful in his praise. We pray you through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER Awaiting his coming in glory, as our Saviour taught us, so we pray with confidence:
(Modern Version) (Traditional Version) Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come; Your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
SONG ‘Did you feel the mountains tremble’
SENDING OUT May the Lord, when he comes: All find us watching and waiting.
Let us bless the Lord. All Thanks be to God.
