1. Serving Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee Sri Guru Angad Dev Jee learnt the Sikh way of life, he memorised Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s words and took part in Kirtan, he served the sadh sangat(holy congregation) with great humility and sincerity. Sri Guru Angad Dev Jee taught us to do Niskham Seva (selfless seva). Sri Guru Angad Dev Jee did an immense amount of seva for the ill and disabled.

2. The Gurmukhi Script Guru Jee also collected the hymns of Sri Guru Nanak

2. The Gurmukhi Script Guru Jee also collected the hymns of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee which had no particular script, Guru Jee used Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s hymns to create a new script called Gurmukhi (from the mouth of the Guru) the written form of the Panjabi language. Guru Jee gave the common people this language as it is simple to learn and write. He developed the Gurmukhi (language in order to make education available to ALL especially the downtrodden and the underprivileged of the society at that time. This was a far-reaching step, it gave the Sikhs a written language distinct form the written language of the Hindus and Muslims ( who used Sanskrit and Arabic) the language which only the privileged could understand use. Guru Jee thus fostered a sense of the Sikhs being a separate people.

3. Serving Langar to the Sangat During the day he worked on Sri Guru

3. Serving Langar to the Sangat During the day he worked on Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s farm and in the evening served langar in the free-kitchen. The institution of Langar was maintained and developed. The Guru's wife, Mata Khivi Jee personally worked in the kitchen. She also served food to the members of the community and the visitors. Her devotion to this institution finds mention in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee.

4. Physical Fitness Sri Guru Angad Dev Jee took a keen interest in physical fitness, and encouraged his devotees to be involved in sports after their morning prayers. Sri Guru Angad Dev Jee inspired people to lead healthy lives. According to Guru Jee, if you are physically fit only then you can pursue higher goals in life, because a sound mind can exist only in a sound body. He provided opportunities to underprivileged sections of the society to maintain good health. He encouraged all people to be involved in wrestling bouts or Mal Akharas to compete in physical competitions. This was again his way of doing away with social taboos of people of lower caste not having physical contact with higher castes. These steps initiated by him laid the foundation for a spiritually, educated and enlightened, healthy Sikh community, without distinctions of caste and creed.
