ﺳﻮﺭﺓ ﺍﻟﺒﻠﺪ Súráh al-Balad (the city) Súráh # 90 Verses # 20
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad Chapter 90 - Súrah al-Balad The surah that opens with the emphatic oath of the Divine One swearing by The City, that mankind us under the absolute power and watchfulness of God. It takes its name after the “city” or “town” (balad) mentioned in. The essential point of this surah is that man is created to work and be judged. He should therefore seek to do good deeds rather than indulge in arrogance and wastefulness. The surah is also known as: (This) Countryside, The Earth, The Land, The Town. . This surah was revealed in Makkah. The Holy Prophet (S) has said that whoever recites this surah will be safe from the wrath of Allah (s. w. t. ) on the Day of Reckoning. Those who recite this surah in their faraa’idh prayers, will be counted among the pious and will given a highly status in the company of the Prophets and martyrs. Writing this surah as a talisman and tying it around the neck of a child keeps him safe from illness. Water in which this surah has been dissolved, if put in the nostrils, acts as a cure for nose ailments.

The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﺍﻟﻠ ﺍﻟ ﻣ ﺍﻟ ﻳ In the name of Allah the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ١﴿ آ ـ ﺍ ٱ I swear by this town,
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ٢﴿ ﻧ ـ ﺍ ٱ as you reside in this town;
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ٣﴿ ﺍ ﺍ by the father and him whom he begot:
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾٤﴿ ﺍ ٱﻧـ ﻯ certainly We created man in travail.
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ٥﴿ ﻥ ﻥ Does he suppose that no one will ever have power over him?
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ٦﴿ ﻭ ﺍ ﺍ ﺍ He says, ‘I have squandered immense wealth. ’
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ٧﴿ ﻥ Does he suppose that no one sees him?
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ٨﴿ ﻝ ۥ Have We not made for him two eyes,
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾ ٩﴿ ﺍ ﺍ a tongue, and two lips,
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٠﴿ ـ ٱﻠ and shown him the two paths [of good and evil]?
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١١﴿ ﺍ ٱ ٱ Yet he has not embarked upon the uphill task.
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٢﴿ آ ﻯ ﺍ ٱ And what will show you what is the uphill task?
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٣﴿ [It is] the freeing of a slave,
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٤﴿ ﻯ ـ ﻯ or feeding [the needy] on a day of starvation,
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٥﴿ ﺍ ﺍ or an orphan among relatives, ﻳ
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٦﴿ ﺍ ﺍ or a needy man in desolation, ﻳ
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٧﴿ ﺍ ٱﻳ ﺍ ﻭﺍ ﺍ ﺍ ٱﻠ ﺍ ﺍ ٱ while being one of those who have faith and who enjoin one another to patience, and enjoin one another to compassion.
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٨﴿ ﻭ ـ ٱ They are the People of the Right Hand.
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾١٩﴿ ٱﻳ ﻭﺍ ﺍـ ﺍ ـ ٱ But those who defy Our signs, they are the People of the Left Hand.
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﴾٢٠﴿ ﺍ [Imposed] upon them will be a closed Fire.
The Holy Quran: Surah al-Balad ﺩ ﻯ آ ﻟ O Allah send Your blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
