ENTERING THE ROOM Must be wearing your ID. Enter quietly and take your seat. Remove outerwear. You are only allowed to wear dress code appropriate sweatshirts/sweaters. Take out your homework. If you are late, sign the tardy book.

LEAVING THE ROOM Tell me where you are going Take the correct hall pass Sign out in the book

BEGINNING OF CLASS Enter the room Put your backpack against the wall Take out your homework Sit at your table Label your paper and do the warmup

END OF CLASS Clear off your table Pick up any trash within 3 feet of your table Put your chair upside down on the table (3 rd period) Turn in your exit slip

SUPPLIES The STUFF person is in charge of acquiring and returning supplies Tightly recap markers and glue. If the marker is dead, please throw it away.

GROUP LESSONS Sit flat in the chair with all 4 legs on the floor. RESPECT MODE DEFENSE MODE CONSENSUS MODE Each student is provided with the written material and a totally quiet environment for a measured amount of time. No sharing of information is done at this time. Pairs of students discuss, compare, justify, and defend their conclusions. Consensus may or may not be achieved, but communications about the topic has been exhaustive. Changes in answers are optional. Each student speaks only with a partner. Each pair confers with another pair about the conclusions and logical support for them. Consensus is the goal, but not necessary.

HELP Quietly ask the students at your table for help with directions if you need it. If you are working alone, raise your hand to get help from me. If you are working with a group, ask them for help in understanding how you do the assignment. Internet translators may only be used when direct permission from Sra. Kelley is given.

HANDING IN WORK Make sure the following in on your paper Your first and last name Your group number The date Always turn in your work face down into your box.

UNFINISHED WORK In the event you do not finish the work, you may come in during ILT to complete it. All work must be completed by the end of class unless other directions are given by Sra. Kelley.

USING THE RESTROOM If I am not teaching the whole group, remain seated in your desk, raise your hand say: “¿Puedo ir al baño? ” If I say no, please wait for a better time to go. If I say yes, please take the appropriate pass and sign out in the sign out log. You may only use the MCS restroom.

GETTING WATER The same procedure for getting water applies. “¿Puedo tomar agua? You are only allowed to use the fountain on the MCS hallway. You may not go purchase a water bottle at the machine.

PENCIL SHARPENER You may use the pencil sharpener located by the door at any time. Only the STUFF person may get up during class.

CLASSROOM JOBS You will be given a classroom job for your group. Should you be absent, one person in the group will take over your job. Please read your job description carefully. Failure to do your group job may result in loss of group points.

GROUPS Working in groups is a privilege. If you choose not to participate in your group, you are not eligible for group benefits. If you choose to disrupt your group, you may be removed from your group.

CLASSROOM LIBRARY All books on the rear of the class are available for your use. Please return all items just as they appear when you take them. Only the stuff person may get books from the classroom library.

SEATWORK PAGES As soon as you get your paper, print your first and last name on the top. Write the date (in Spanish) which is always on the board. Be sure to include the group number on the paper.

LUNCH AND FOOD I understand that lunch is later this year, however food is not to be eaten in this class unless it is a food day or the food is provided by the teacher. During 3 rd period we will be dismissed in the middle of class for lunch. You must throw away all uneaten food/drink before taking your seat. You must return promptly or you will be marked tardy. Make sure you turn off your cell phone upon returning.

TISSUES & HAND SANITIZER I do not keep these items in my classroom. If you would like to donate some to the class, that is fine.

ATTENDANCE I take attendance immediately after the bell rings. If you think you will be tardy to my class, please bring a note. Claiming any of the following is still tardy: I was talking to Tooman. I had to go to the bathroom. You saw me in the hall. I had to change from PE/weights. I was coming from FA. If you are not in the room when I take attendance, you are to come to my desk immediately after class and stand there until I tell you that I have amended the attendance. If you are absent, your group is responsible for collecting all handouts you missed, writing your name on them, and adding them to your folder.

TRASH You may throw away trash whenever you need to if I am not teaching the whole group. Do not play basketball with your trash Make sure all trash lands in the can Pick up trash even if it isn’t yours. ONLY PAPER goes in the recycling bin.

LOST ITEMS Ask the people around you if they lost the item you found. I will keep items for one week in my class. After that I will turn it into the lost and found. If you leave an item in my classroom, you must wait until the next class change to pick up the item. That means: DO NOT INTERRUPT MY CLASS TO RETRIEVE SOMETHING YOU LEFT.

ANNOUNCEMENTS & PLEDGE Talking is not permitted during the announcements, moment of silence and pledge. I ask that all students stand for the pledge. If you are in ROTC, I will report you for not standing for the pledge.

VISITORS Only I can open the door, unless I say otherwise. Students are not to open the door for tardy students. The class ambassador should greet the visitor and explain what we have been doing in class that day. I anticipate having many visitors, and misbehavior during their presence will result in a classroom referral.

FIRE/TORNADO/EARTHQUAK E DRILL Fire Drill Follow the piñata head to the first bus outside. Remain with our class for the entirety of the drill. Tornado Drill We will all file out in the hallway and assume a crouched position. Earthquake Drill Students are to tuck and cover under their desks. Lockdown Drill Students are to get into the back corner of the classroom and remain silent.

ATTENTION SIGNALS When I need your attention, I will: Ring the bell Give the clap-response cue Hold my hand over my head and ask you to repeat directions When I give the signal, please stop what you are doing, look at me, and listen for directions

HELPING OTHER STUDENTS You are welcome to help other students in this class. You should not leave your seat unless instructed to do so. Do not put down students that ask for help.

YOUR NOTEBOOK Your notebook is vitally important in this class. It will serve as a great reference for future Spanish studies. There should not be papers hanging out of your notebook. Please put items in sequential order. Use a pencil organizer to hold index cards with vocabulary.

FREE TIME If you finish all assignments, you may choose to work on Rosetta Stone or begin your homework. At no time are you to be working on work for other classes. If you do, I will confiscate the work and I will not return it to you. If you are caught copying anyone else's’ work, both you and the person you are copying will receive a 0. If it is for another class, I will notify that teacher.
