Spring Shadows Elementary Student Council 2014 -2015

What is student council? Student council is a group of student leaders dedicated to serve the student body, school, and community.

What will student council do? Raise money to help the school and community Work together to make a better school Maintain a clean and beautiful school and many more activities!

Who can be in student council? 4 th and 5 th grade students: One representative from each classroom. Students must: Be responsible Enjoy working with others Attend student council meetings on Thursdays during ACE Have a positive attitude

Guidelines and Responsibilities You must maintain a good citizenship record. No U’s in conduct, suspensions, or discipline referrals. Members will be held accountable for following all school rules and procedures. You must be trying your personal best in all your classwork and homework. Student council members should be dependable, honest, responsible, and kind.

Could this be you? If you meet the requirements and are ready to be a leader at Spring Shadows Elementary then you might be elected as your classroom representative!

Election Process You may nominate yourself or a classmate that would make a great leader. Your teacher will collect all the nominations and tell you which three students had the highest number of nominations. Those students will have to write a few sentences to explain why you should vote for them to be in student council. After the nominated students read their statements to the class, each student in the class will cast a secret vote to elect their classroom representative. Your vote is a SECRET. Do not allow other students to tell you who to vote for.

Election Process After you have voted, your teacher will turn in the secret votes. A team of teachers will count the votes from each class to see who won the election. The representatives who win the election will be announced during the morning announcements on Friday, September 19.

Important!!! Remember: Your vote is a secret and this is not a popularity contest. The student council needs dedicated students because we will be working on a lot of projects to improve our school and community. Please vote wisely and elect a responsible classmate who will work hard to improve Spring Shadows!
