The different roles to take – Club level: • Contest Chair : 1 person • Chief Judge: 1 person • Contest Toastmaster: 1 person • Competition Judges: 3 persons mini • Evaluation Contestant: 3 persons mini • Speech Contestant: 3 persons mini • Eval. Contest Test Speaker: 1 person • Ballot Counter: 1 person • Timer: 1 person • Sergeant at Arms: 1 person
Start: 1. The Chief Judge briefs the Judges, the Timer & the Ballot Counter on their role & on Contests’ rules 2. The Contest Toastmaster of Evaluation Contest briefs the Evaluation Contestants and draws lots for their order of speaking 3. The Contest Toastmaster of Speech Contest briefs the Speech Contestants and draws lots for their order of speaking 4. The Contest Chair opens the Spring Contest
First Part – Evaluation Contest: The evaluation contest is about several evaluators that will evaluate the same speech performed by the same person 1. The Contest Toastmasters introduces the Evaluation Contest Test Speaker 2. The Evaluation Contest Test Speaker makes his/her speech 3. The Sergeant at Arms brings the Evaluation Contestants outside the room so they can prepare their evaluation during 5 mn then checks that they don’t speak between each other 4. For each Evaluation Contestant : a) The Sergeant at Arms brings in an Evaluation Contestant who makes his/her evaluation b) The Judges judge the performance based on the evaluation judging ballot c) The Timer records the evaluation’s time on the time recording ballot d) When the Judges & the Timer are done, go back to step a) Þ The Evaluation Contestants who have already performed can stay to assist to the next evaluations 5. When all the Evaluation Contestants are done, the Ballot Counter collect all the ballots from the Judges & the Timer 6. The Ballot Counter & the Chief Judge go outside the room to count the ballots & report the score on a specific sheet before giving it sealed in an envelope to the Contest Chair

Second Part – Speech Contest : The speech contest is about having the speech of each contestants judged by several judges 1. The Speech Contestants go outside the room 2. For each Speech Contestant: a) The Sergeant at Arms brings the Speech Contestant into the room so he/she can perform his/her speech b) The Judges judge the performance based on the judging ballot c) The Timer records the speech’s time on the time recording ballot d) When the Judges & the Timer are done, go back to step a) Þ The Speech Contestants who have already performed can stay to assist to the next speeches 5. When all the Speech Contestants are done, the Ballot Counter collect all the ballots from the Judges & the Timer 6. The Ballot Counter & the Chief Judge go outside the room to count the ballots & report the score on a specific sheet before giving it sealed in an envelope to the Contest Chair
Judging ballot for International Speech Contest
End of the Contest: 1. The Contest Chair & the 2 Contest Toastmasters go outside the room to discover the winners of each Contest Þ The Chief Judge stays in the room with the Contestants 2. The team goes back to the room 3. The Contest Chair, assisted by the Contest Toastmasters, announces the winners of each Contests 4. The Contest Chair ends the Spring Contest
