YOUR ROLE- PRESIDENT To be main UWESU contact Responsible for ensuring all membership fees are collected Ensuring that all society good practice guidelines, codes of practices, risk assessments are followed Arranging regular meetings of the society, including the AGM | EGM Maintaining effective liaison with the VP Societies & Communications and Sports & Activities staff Ensuring that the aims & objectives of the society are achieved Ensuring that all accidents | incidents are reported as appropriate to the Opportunities Manager Appointing appropriate Trip & Activity Leaders in conjunction with the society Equipment & Safety Officer Ensuring the Societies Code of Practice & Safety Policy is strictly adhered to Attending Societies & Communications Committee Meetings or sending a nominee in their absence Understanding the broader picture whilst keeping the aims of the society in mind at all times Maintaining committee enthusiasm – if your not passionate, no-one else will be Adhere to the UWESU finance policy Website link:
YOUR ROLE – VICE PRESIDENT To deal with all incoming communications & pass these on to the committee & | or members Responsible for ensuring participants have purchased membership Organise fundraising or sponsorship for your group Responsible for the production of the sports annual budget request To maintain accurate membership lists to keep members up-to-date about all sporting activities Publicise meetings Issue minutes of meetings & agendas to club members Compile introductory material for new members Arrange meetings and book rooms or venues Be aware of key dates for your society throughout the year Collect post from UWESU Sports & Activities Reception Organise AGM Adhere to the UWESU finance policy
YOUR ROLE – TREASURER Administer the sports finances Responsible for the production of the sports annual budget request Responsible for ensuring participants have purchased membership Be the signatory on all claim forms Ensure that an income & expenditure account for the previous academic year is presented to the AGM Be accountable to the VP Societies & Communications Organise affiliation to national governing bodies (NGBs) Organise fundraising or sponsorship for your group Adhere to the UWESU finance policy
YOUR ROLE EQUIPMENT AND SAFETY Produce equipment & kit inventory by the deadline provided Responsible for ensuring participants have purchased membership Store & maintain all equipment in accordance with manufacturers & governing body guidelines Ensure that equipment is not used for unofficial trips To arrange for the purchase, replacement and safe disposal of items of equipment & kit Ensure that the team | group | trip has a minimum of 2 first aiders To ensure that risk assessments are regularly updated & revised To ensure that the Code of Practice is regularly updated & revised To ensure that the safety policy is regularly updated & revised [ this is part of the Code of Practice] To ensure that all sections of the sport logbook are updated Arrange the repair & disposal of unsafe equipment & kit Report all accidents to the Sports & Activities Manager Adhere to the UWESU finance policy Keep accurate & up to date records of all equipment &|or kit checks Ensure that all equipment issued for an activity is suitable for that purpose
YOUR ROLE – PARTICIPATION AND EQUALITY Make the club as welcoming & as accessible as possible to all students Organising events to include diverse range of members Organising the stall for Freshers’ Fair, including any performances and props Responsible for ensuring participants have purchased membership. Be the main organiser/point of contact for Freshers’ events: Fair, Give it a go etc Be the main point of contact & liaison for new members and any non. BUCS squad members to aid retention Ensure that other committee members have taken getting everyone involved into consideration Recruitment of student coaches & officials from within the club with the support of Volunteering staff Organising events that occur within the society such as guest speakers and workshops Timetable events throughout the year Co-ordinate tours | trips Adhere to finance policy
YOUR ROLEEVENTS AND FUNDRAISING (Non-Compulsory Position) Liaise with RAG and developing creative ways of raising money Organising charity events and fundraisers throughout the year Coming up with creative ways to raise money Coordinate all media footage and advertising Organising variety of social & competitive events throughout the year Work closely with Participation & Equality Officer on organising of events Adhere to finance policy Ensuring that events are able to include a diverse range of members Setting up the Freshers’ Fair
YOUR ROLE – MEDIA AND PUBLICITY OFFICER (Non. Compulsory Position) To be the main liaison with members via media outlets such as Twitter and Facebook To promote achievements, events and trips using media outlets Coordinate photos and videos for UWESU Website at sporting events Advertise and promote meetings/AGM Adhere to the UWESU finance policy Ensure UWESU sport webpages are updated and current Set up Freshers’ Fair
*NEW ROLE* SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER (Non-Compulsory) - Promote the importance of a sustainable sports club Enroll their sports club into the Greener Futures Programme Promote ways of reducing waste and C 02 Emissions i. e. ride a bike to training Promote ways of reducing single use plastic i. e. reusable water bottles etc.
