Sport has the power to create hope where there is only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking racial barriers, it is capable of laughing in the face of all discrimination.
Greece football team Many players of Greece football team play in other countries. Players like Manolas that play for Rome or Retsos that play for Bayern Leverkusen. In 1970 The Greek team did not manage to have any success, despite the passion of the Greek people for football. The country's economical and social problems, before and after World War II, did not allow successful preparation of the national team.
Germany football team The most striking examples of inclusion are represented by the football teams of Germany who won the 1954, 1974 and 2014 world championships. After World War II, Germany was banned from competition in most sports until 1950.
Italian Volleyball team The Italian national volleyball team came second in the world with a half-team composed of Italian daughters of foreigners. The team's biggest victories were the Gold Medal at the 2002 FIVB Women’s World Championship, being the first team to break the domination of Russia, Cuba, China and Japan, and the 2007 and the 2011 World Cup, winning 21 out of the 22 matches in both tournaments.
Vasilis Hatzipanagis was born in Tashkent, a city of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic. Vasilis Hatzipanagis has become really famous in Greece and he is considered to be the most successful Greek player of all ages. He was a member of Greece's National Football Team from 1976 till 1999 and stopped his professional career because his age did not allow it anymore.
Oksana Chusovitina's career as an elite gymnast has spanned more than a quarter century. She won the USSR Junior Nationals in 1988 and began competing at the international level in 1989, before many of her current rivals were even born. She is the only female gymnast ever to compete in seven Olympic Games, and is one of only two female gymnasts to compete at the Olympics under three different national teams: Soviet Union, Uzbekistan and Germany.
Paolo Di. Maggio On November 24, 1914, Giuseppe Paolo Di. Maggio was born in California from a couple of Italian immigrants from Palermo. He will become one of the most famous baseball champions of all time with the name of Joe Di. Maggio. He wins 9 national titles, three American League MVPs and is selected 13 times for the MLB All Star Game. He played from 1934 to 1951 in the New York Yankees.
