Spiritual Disciplines

1. Co-operation • Hebrews 10: 24 -25 • 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (ESV) a. And let us… i. All of us ii. Without exception iii. Together iv. Is this you?

2. Concentration • Hebrews 10: 24 -25 • 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (ESV) b. Consider how… i. Resources— • Attentiveness • Investigation • Prayer • Time • Persistence • On the job training • Mentors

Catalyst—Cause Excitement • Hebrews 10: 24 -25 • 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (ESV) c. Stir up one another… i. Excited Christians—Not a common thought. ii. Exciting each other iii. Not always welcome iv. Bring out of spiritual stupor v. “The word of God is living and active…” vi. Jesus challenged everyone to change through his teachings, miracles and his death, burial and resurrection.

(ESV) d. To love and good works… i. A growing faith is characterised by love and good deeds. ii. Hate and indifference bring destruction. iii. “Love one another as I have loved you…” iv. Luke 6: 27—“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, …”

(ESV) d. Meet together… i. Together we see— • • • Family life Faith in action Know-how shared Strength seen and given Needs meet Weakness helped ii. You walk away from this at you spiritual peril—Some are!

(ESV) d. Encourage one another… i. Constant Upliftment— • In prayer • Praise • Expressions of joy • Gentle correction ii. Heb. 3: 13—But encourage one another day after day iii. Jesus is coming soon…
