Body � The body contains the main parts of the speech! � 6 types of ways to organize the body of a speech. ◦ ◦ ◦ 1. Time Order 2. Spatial Order 3. Topical Order 4. Process Order 5. Cause-Effect Order 6. Problem Solution Order
Time Order � Organizing points in speech in the order in which they happened chronologically. Examples: � Past, Present, Future? � 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd period?
Time Order � 1. The doors were open in March 1950. � 2. In late 1949 , the Pascoe brothers decided to open a bakery on third avenue. � 3. In 1953, they opened a second bakery on 4 th street. � 4. In late 1950, Joe Pascoe died, and his son went into the business with uncle Mike. � 5. After the 3 rd bakery was opened in 1954, the owners bought a chain of bakeries that had been established between 1935 and 1940. � 6. Today, Pascoe Bakeries, Inc. Has become one of the finest organizations in the city.

The computer lab is next to the library.

Process Order � 1. The pencil is stuck into the sharpener. � 2. Take the pencil out of the box. � 3. Use the newly sharpened pencil to write something great! � 4. Make sure the sharpener is plugged in. � 5. Take the pencil out of the sharpener when the ready light comes on.
