Discipline / Special Education • 18 -19 SY Pilot: – Start collecting special education table 9 A and 13 data in the PIMS discipline templates – Compare new PIMS Cognos reports to 18 -19 SY special ed tables submitted by LEAs via IU Penn Data Manager 3

Discipline / Special Education • Infraction Codes: – Update codes definitions • Knife (blade length must be 2 ½ inches or longer) • Cutting Instrument (blade length less than 2 ½ inches) – Add new infraction codes • Academic Code of Conduct Violation • Student Code of Conduct Violation 4

Discipline / Special Education • Incident Offender Template: – Add Sending District or Charter School AUN • This will be a required field for all students – Add Primary Disability Code which will be conditionally required if student is special ed at the time of the incident. 5

Discipline / Special Education • Incident Victim Template: – Add New Injury Severity Code Values: • Victim did not sustain physical injury • Victim did sustain physical injury, not considered serious bodily injury • Victim sustained serious bodily injury • Resulted in death of victim – Injury Severity will be updated to a required field 6

Discipline / Special Education • Other Considerations: – All non-safe schools incidents resulting in disciplinary action codes S 3 -S 9 must be submitted to the safe school data submission, regardless of special education status of student – For special education offenders, incidents will be submitted by the LEA imposing the discipline. If it occurs at a non-PIMS reporting entity, the district of residence or enrolled charter school must ensure they submit the discipline data. 7
