SPEAKING WITH SINCERITY/CONVICTION One approach to developing a "Speaking With Sincerity" speech is to ask yourself some questions: • WHAT DO YOU FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT? (Remember, you want to come across as strongly as you FEEL about your subject) • WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT TO YOU? • WHAT POINTS DO YOU WANT TO MAKE? (Perhaps 2 -4 main points) • WHAT WOULD YOU TELL A FRIEND ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL ON THE SUBJECT, ISSUE, ETC. ? • FOR YOUR CONCLUSION, WHAT IS YOUR APPEAL? WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR AUDIENCE TO DO - SUCH AS VOLUNTEER, SEND MONEY, WRITE TO CONGRESS, EDUCATE THEMSELVES. ETC. ?
POSSIBLE SUBJECTS Initially, it is helpful to "brainstorm" your ideas on paper without censoring. Do not worry about organization, grammar, or word usage; just let your ideas flow. A word of caution: A "Speaking With Sincerity" speech must not contain any information that cannot be substantiated as true. False and misleading data can destroy a speaker’s credibility.
