EARLY LIFE Mario J. Molina was born March 19, 1943 in Mexico City, Mexico to father Roberto Molina and mother Leonor Henriquez. . Mario J. Molina was interested in chemistry at the very young age of 11 and made his own lab in a bathroom at his family home. He went on to study in Mexico at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in 1965. He than went to study at the University of Freiburg in Germany in 1967. , Finally he traveled to the United States to study at the University of California and graduated in 1972.

CONTRIBUTIO NS Mario Molina was first to discover that chlorofluorocarbons (Chemicals that contain atoms of carbon, chlorine, and fluorine) can destroy the ozone. He is the first Mexican-born person to be awarded a Nobel Prize for his work helping the atmosphere in 1995. In 1989, he began teaching at the “Massachusetts Institute of Technology” and he continued helping the environment.
