Before there were roadways crisscrossing America people had to use rivers for transportation which is which most of the major cities and missions existed along the waterways. Growth would always start at the river and make it’s way outward from there.

TOWNS towns grew around some of the missions and presidios. What were the Missions and Presidio’s built near? Water!!!! Here again we see that water influences where things were built. This is a major factor in establishment. The River is where the city began and everything that grew afterwards came from there.
