Notes for the teacher: 1. 2. Practise the 11 colours, plus multicolor. Also practise them with actions. Practise the first sentence – Soy de color blanco – using Escuchad y repetid and actions to help embed. (point to self for soy, make a big C with your hand for de color, make snowflakes for blanco) 3. Discuss the meaning (I am of the colour white) and what might sound better in English. (Describing in this way avoids adjectival agreement, which is necessary as the children haven’t covered gender yet. ) 4. Repeat the other three sentences in the same way (Soy de color violeta / Soy de color amarillo / Soy de color marrón) 5. Using slide 2, give children one minute to practise the sentences in pairs. 6. Using slides 3 -9, ask the children to tell you what the sentence is. Note that the support is gradually withdrawn. 7. Give some of the children one of your colour flashcards or a coloured object. Volunteers tell you the sentence that they would say “Soy de color + colour”. This can later be repeated with ¿eres? and es. 8. Use slide 12 to practise ¿Eres de color rosa? etc. Discuss the meaning with the children. (¿eres? = are you? ) Point to someone close to you for this action. 9. Repeat for slide 13 (es = he/she is) Point to someone far away for this action. 10. Slide 14 shows a summary of the three parts of the verb. 11. Slide 15 shows a copy of the worksheet to help you to explain it. Children should use soy for the first row, eres for the second row and es for the third row.
