History • District 7 and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville have a long-standing tradition of collaboration. • The Collaboration for Autism Spectrum Teaching, Learning and Excelling, or CASTLE, is just one example of collaboration between the SIUE Clinical Child and School Psychology Program and District 7.

Training Schedule • Weekly schedule: • Approximately 3 days per week in the Edwardsville

Training Schedule • Weekly schedule: • Approximately 3 days per week in the Edwardsville Community Unit School District, • Approximately 2 days per week at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, engaged in clinic and teaching activities • Minimum two hours of supervision from clinical supervisor at SIUE • On-site supervision from school psychologist mentors in ECUSD • Additional mentorship in teaching as needed • This schedule continues during the summer months, and may fluctuate during the year as needed to accommodate ISPIC intern activities, conference attendance, and other scheduling needs at both ECUSD and SIUE.

The goals of the clinic are to: Conduct low-cost evaluations of children suspected of having ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder Provide brief consultation to parents and schools for the management of behaviors. Provide supervised training and experience for Clinical Child and School Psychology graduate students. The psychology intern provides direct client services and assists in supervision of graduate practicum students, providing valuable experience in doctoral level clinical practice and preparing interns for future graduate training roles. Comprehensive Autism Spectrum Evaluation (CASE) Site in the ABC • The CASE Site is a part of the Attention and Behavior Clinic that operates May through July each year, providing thorough diagnostic assessments of children suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). All evaluations are conducted in accordance with evidence-based practices in the field, including administrations of the ADOS-2 and application of DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. • The psychology intern provides direct client services and assists in supervision of graduate practicum students for all ASD evaluations conducted within the CASE Site.

SIUE Teaching Opportunities • During the fall semester, the intern will have the opportunity to attend and present a guest lecture to 2 – 4 undergraduate and graduate classes, after which the teaching mentor will provide feedback to shape development goals for future teaching efforts. • During the spring semester, the intern will teach one undergraduate psychology course under the supervision of the teaching mentor. Courses available pertain to typical school psychological expertise (e. g. , exceptional learners, childhood psychopathology, multicultural psychology, behavior analysis, or introduction to school psychology).

School Based Services • The goal of the internship program in ECUSD is to provide the intern with a rich and varied experience so that the intern develops a systematic understanding of a preschool through twelfth grade public school district. • Interns will participate in multi-tiered systems of support for students receiving additional support in reading/math/behavior, as well as a collaborative model supporting teachers in their implementation of specialized supports for students.

School Based Supervisors • The intern is assigned a mentor school psychologist, and schedules are developed for each trimester. • The intern rotates to a different building assignment each trimester, allowing for exposure to multiple school-based mentors to facilitate growth.

They have also been a downstate leader in the annual number of National Merit Schools and in the performance of our academic teams. • Students have consistently scored well above the state average in all subject areas for all student groups. • Currently, ECUSD has sixteen teachers who have earned National Board Certification and nine administrators who have earned doctorate degrees.
