Two types of roadworks, • Static Sites • Mobile Lane Closure For both types, to set up and for MLC to operate, require: Lorry Mounted Crash Cushion vehicle (LMCC) Advanced Warning Vehicles with signage Works Vehicles Trained staff The emphasis at all times must be on safety and careful planning is required.

Ongoing discussions between FASNRA and LANTRA to agree mutual recognition of qualifications Chapter 8: All Operatives involved in MLC’s must receive suitable training to UK LANTRA Standard. No staff in SDCC are trained to this level. Contractors with vehicles and qualified staff carry out MLC at present.

Exec Engineer in charge of a roadworks site where a fatality occurred, found guilty of a number of charges under the SHWW Act and Regulations. 12 month custodial sentence and a fine. Ongoing investigation by GardaHSA into the deaths of two retained firefighters in Bray. Wicklow Co Co offices searched, Chief Fire Officer, Ass. Chief Fire Officer, Director of Service and County Manager, held and questioned under caution. Ongoing GardaHSA investigation into serious accident in Kilkenny Co Co. Staff interviewed under caution.
