Myths of Being In Band • If I join band I can’t take other electives. -You can actually take other electives while you take band class! • If I join band, my grades will suffer. -Band Students not only are the majority students in SGA but also have the highest GPA’s in the school! • If I join marching band I cant play any other sports. -Marching band is a fall varsity sport. The only sports that marching band students cannot participate in are Football, Volleyball, and Softball. • To get a band scholarship I have to major in music. -While scholarship stipulations change from school to school, most institutions do NOT require you to major in music!

MARCHING BAND

Marching Band Info Marching Band is an after-school activity that only takes place in the fall Marching band plays at all Varsity football games and pep rallies. Students who complete a full season receive a varsity letter The marching band practice 3 days a week Marching band students participate in trips that are fun and exciting All students are welcome to participate in Marching Band no matter what performance level!

Band Class Info We have 3 performing ensembles that all perform at LGPE Each ensemble is created based off of audition Each band will have multiple performance opportunities Students receive quality education form professional guest clinicians Students who participate all 4 years will receive a Fine Arts Diploma Seal
