Ø It’s referring to how you don’t realize how much you miss something until it’s gone. • What is meant by “Only hate the road when you’re missing home”? Ø I think “home” is a symbol for safety or happiness so he hates it when he’s not in the comfort of his home. • What do you think the line “Cause you loved her too much and you dived too deep” means? THEME • The theme of the song is to not take things for granted. You don’t know what you have until you lose it and you realize that you only want something once it’s gone. “Only know you love her when you let her go, ” this line means that this person didn't value her as much as he should have because when she was gone he then realized how much she meant to him and that he’s made a mistake in letting her go. It’s important because you never know when people will disappear from your life. This song is about how we should appreciate people in our lives because you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.
