• DOE ORDER NO. 2020 -E 0 -06 • I. Reopening Requirements. • a. All schools open. Upon reopening in August, all school boards and charter school governing boards must open brick and mortar schools at least five days per week for all students, subject to advice and orders of the Florida Department Of Health, local departments of health, Executive Order 20 -149 and subsequent executive orders. • 2. Absent these directives, the day-to-day decision to open or close a school must always rest locally with the board or executive most closely associated with a school, the superintendent or school board in the case of a district-run school, the charter governing board in the case of a public charter school or the private school principal, director or governing board in the case of a nonpublic school.

As long as Palm Beach County remains in Phase 1 of Reopening Somerset Academy Canyons will operate Remote Live Instruction only. There will be no Brick-and-Mortar option until the Governor approves Palm Beach County to move to Phase 2 of reopening.

We will begin the school year with Remote Live Instruction Bell Schedule RLI August…. 2020 8: 10 am - 9: 00 am Period 1 9: 05 am - 9: 55 am Period 2 10: 00 am – 10: 50 am Period 3 10: 55 am – 11: 45 am Period 4 11: 45 am – 12: 15 pm Lunch 12: 15 pm - 1: 05 pm Period 5 1: 10 pm - 2: 00 pm Period 6 2: 05 pm - 2: 55 pm Period 7 Teachers can be available from 7: 45 am – 8: 05 am and 3: 00 pm – 3: 25 pm for scheduled meetings.

Considerations: - We do not yet know the start date (we’ll know this Wednesday from PBCSD) - We will begin loaning out devices 14 days before the start date (for families who need them) We will announce a schedule. - There will be training on Colegia for all incoming students prior to the first day of school. - We may be offering voluntary tutoring before school starts to catch students up. - Valid instruction will begin the first day of school.

When the Governor approves Palm Beach County to move to Phase 2 of reopening we will have 3 options available for our families…
