What is hunger? §For most people in developed countries, being hungry is the uncomfortable feeling you get if you skip lunch. But it’s very different if you’re one of the hundreds of millions who don’t get enough to eat every single day. §Being malnourished means you don’t have the strength or energy to do even the simplest tasks. §Hunger makes you weak, tired and unable to concentrate §Work or study of any kind is exhausting. All you can think about is when you are going to eat.
Causes of hunger � Among the key causes of hunger are natural, disasters, conflict, poverty, poor and over-exploitation of the environment. Recently, financial and economic crises, and the drastic increase in food prices in 2008 have pushed even more people into hunger. � Conversely, the news isn’t all bad – although we have had an absolute the world, huge progress has been made increase in the number of hungry in since the 1970 s, when around 30% of the world’s population were undernourished.

How much food is wasted? � Food waste or food loss is food that is discarded or lost uneaten. As of 2011, 1. 3 billion tons of food, about one third of the global food production, are lost or wasted annually. Loss and wastage occurs on all steps in the food supply chain. Solution to hunger � Considering how many food is wasted and thrown away in restaurants every day, these world hunger solutions mainly talk about an equal distribution of food all over the world because clearly, there is something wrong with it. While those who were born in developed countries throw away food every day, there are people in Africa who go to bed hungry. � Malnutrition is a very important matter because it triggers a lot of other infections and diseases that occur in the body of a person who doesn't eat properly. You have probably heard about the ONE organization through the Live Aid and Live 8 concerts that raised a lot of money for poor people in Africa. � A lot of famous singers accepted to sing for free in extremely large venues placed in some cities such as London or Philadelphia and all the money that people paid for tickets were directed to the poor people of Africa. At the same time, donations were still going on during the concerts while artists were encouraging their fans to do so.
