ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES OFFENSIVE VISITS One visit per inning : batter, batter in the on deck circle, coaches between them It’s not a visit if the coach talks to the batter when the opposing team asks for a time-out. One visit per Tie-Break inning If the coach asks for a 2 nd visit, the umpire must refuse. If the coach insists, he should be ejected of the game. DEFENSIVE VISITS Three visits per game : defensive players, coaches It’s not a visit if the coach talks to a defense player when the opposing team asks for a time-out. One visit per Tie-Break inning. After the 4 th visit, the pitcher becomes illegal, he/she can play in another defensive position but can no longer pitch.

ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES SIGNS HOME PLATE UMPIRE « PLAY BALL » : Signal to the pitcher he/she can throw the ball. Do not put the hand in front of the face. Make an oral call.
ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES SIGNS HOME PLATE UMPIRE « FOUL TIP » : Make your right hand fingers slide on the left hand to indicate that the ball touched the bat.
ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES SIGNS HOME PLATE UMPIRE BASE UMPIRE COUNT : Home plate umpire : Use the left hand for the « Balls » (firstly) and the right hand for the « Strikes » (secondly), hands indicate the numbers. Base umpire : Ask for the « balls » et « Strikes » count by putting both open hands on the chest.
ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES SIGNS HOME PLATE UMPIRE PUTOUTS INFORMATION: Home plate umpire : Indicate the number of putouts by giving the count, fingers on the right thigh. Base umpire : Ask for the number of putouts by tapping the right thigh with the right fist. BASE UMPIRE

ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES SIGNS HOME PLATE UMPIRE END OF INFIELD FLY SITUATION : Indicate that the infield fly situation is finished by brushing down the left arm with the right hand.
ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES SIGNS HOME PLATE UMPIRE BASE UMPIRE « INFIELD FLY » : Stretch out the right hand above the head. Make an oral call. If the ball is near the foul ball line, call « Infield Fly if Fair » .

ARBITRE SOFTBALL – LES REGLES SIGNS HOME PLATE UMPIRE CHECK SWING : Home plate umpire : Ask help for a swing attempt, remove the mask and hold it in the left hand, point towards the base umpire with the right hand. Base umpire: Indicate « Yes » if the hitter did swing by making the strike sign. Make an oral call. Indicate « No » if the hitter did not attempt to swing by making the « safe » sign. No oral call.
