Current Mental Health Curriculum Elementary ● ● Read alouds, push-in focus groups, lunch bunch, SEL building rep, town halls, physical education, character education, class meetings Exploring programs- Yale Ruler, STEPS- A Secondary ● Focus groups, Steps- A groups, DBT, SEL building rep, physical education, 7 th & 10 th grade curriculum, Youth Mental Health First Aid training District ● BOE goal of meeting the needs of all learners and NYS regulations requiring mental health curriculum supported the District SEL journey this year
Our Journey ● District SEL team was created for the 2018/19 school year to provide structure and focus ● NYS regulations/District Goal ● Team attended a series of workshops at PNW BOCES to learn more about SEL and how to support student/adult learners ● Throughout school year, the team has shared new learning in their schools/leadership team ● Tonight we share the highlights of our learning and share next steps

SEL Activity Turn to your partner and… Introduce yourself. Share the farthest place from Tarrytown you have ever traveled. Discuss travels until you discover a place you have both been to, as far from Tarrytown as possible. Compare your experiences in that place.

Next steps ● ● ● School Teams are being created to join the District SEL team District-wide SEL meeting is scheduled for June For 2019 -2020 ○ SEL will be a topic for professional development at each faculty meeting ○ Goal is for all staff to understand SEL definition, become familiar with SEL activities, build knowledge base ○ Begin to look at programs district-wide ○ Hiring of Guidance counselor to support with elementary curriculum ○ Continue to work on Mental Health Curriculum
