SOCIAL STUDIES RULES AND PROCEDURES
RESPECT • Students are expected to be in class on time. • Respect will occur in the class at all times • There is no reason at any time to put down another student, idea or work. • The class is a safe zone (you are always welcome as long as you follow the rules. ) • Talking and interaction is encouraged during discussions (which happen often), but otherwise, the teacher is the only person who should be speaking. • Raise your hands to speak unless otherwise instructed.
BATHROOM • There are no bathroom breaks during warm-ups, exit slips, or discussions. • Only one student at a time may leave the classroom. • If you abuse your bathroom privileges by constantly leaving class, being gone for extended periods, etc. , you will lose them.
HOMEWORK • Due to the nature of social studies, you will have to read, write, and work outside of our normal classroom hours. • Homework is to be turned in at the beginning of class (or submitted online before class to be counted for full credit. ) • Most of the homework will simply be reading, writing, or packets distributed. • Most nights you will likely have homework! • Notebooks will be collected at the end of the week/or submitted at the end of the week.
PHONES • You are not to have phones out in class at ANY time unless told otherwise (be respectful…I’m not on my phone!) • There will be occasions you will be able to listen to music during some assignments, but I’ll give you heads up beforehand. • School policy will be followed on phone use.
ATTENDANCE/MAKEUP WORK • Students who are absent will have 1 day for makeup (it’s summer, it goes quickly so stay caught up!) • The more you’re in class and participating, the better your grade will be! • Late work will have a deduction in grade (case by case). • If you are in class participating every day without being tardy, you’ll pass!! • Normal ACC rules apply to absences and tardies, no exceptions!
MOST IMPORTANTLY… • Learn, question, be in class, and HAVE FUN!!
